Devrukh No. 1 School, renowned as the first in Sangameshwar taluka, has a rich history dating back to its establishment in 1856 at Desai’s house on Varchi Ali. Initially known as Desai School, it transitioned to Patki’s house before acquiring its current location. In the pre-independence era, it operated under the name Life Education School Devrukh No. 1 and served as a taluka school under the local board. Post-independence, it continued its educational legacy, even conducting sutaktai and offering lab facilities. Situated centrally, it attracted students from surrounding villages. Notably, India’s first Lok Sabha speaker, Honorable Dadasaheb Mavalankar, was a student here. Over 168 years, the school has nurtured countless students, contributing significantly to various fields. Evolving from spinning yarn to embracing modern education, it now equips students to tackle challenges of the digital age. Guided by principled leaders like Mr. B.L. Athalye Guruji, the school remains a vital center of social education. Today, in 2024, it offers classes from I to VII, catering to students from diverse villages in Devrukh.
